Hi, I’m Sew and Sew

I learned to sew from my grandmother, Fran, when I was 14. Her straightforward and practical approach to making and teaching allowed me to take the basic skills she taught me and apply my own creative spin on my projects. Her parents were tailors, so I suppose working with textiles is in my DNA. I’ve also inherited her desire to teach and help others–my calm teaching style makes learning to sew enjoyable and achievable.

A short video introduction to me created by @justintimechi Productions.

Yoga Flow

I’ve been practicing yoga since 1999, meditation since 2015, and completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2025 at Bloom Yoga Studio. I’m a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and have earned my Gentle and Restorative Yoga certification. My gentle approach to teaching, and interest in making yoga accessible to all, allow me to create a warm and welcoming environment in my classes. With a focus on slow flow Hatha yoga, my classes allow participants to be present in and to feel into each pose.

And, Also

I’m an art director and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Drake University and my Bachelor of Fine Art from Ray College of Design. My work has been featured in Handwoven Magazine (Reader’s Gallery and Article) and my paintings were part of an Artists Book House project in collaboration with author Jarrett Dapier. When not on the mat or at the sewing machine, I like to knit, weave, and attend women’s collegiate basketball games with my husband and daughter.
